Happy 2025!
Our first topic of the year is all about color! This year’s trends focus on warm neutrals and earthy tones, including terracotta, brown, muted pink, burgundy, maroon, moss green, plum, and steely blue. These hues offer a versatile foundation for creating spaces that feel both timeless and modern. Here’s how to incorporate these trending colors into wall treatments, furniture, and decor.
The first colors of the year are some neutrals like brown and terracotta. These warm, earthy tones work beautifully in living rooms, dining spaces, or entryways, adding depth and a grounding effect. Terracotta walls pair wonderfully with natural wood accents and beige or cream furniture. In the downstairs living room we kept with a natural feel and used all shades of brown in this space.
Next is a soft and subtle, muted pink that is perfect color for bedrooms or nurseries, creating a calming and inviting atmosphere. Pair it with white trim for a fresh, airy look. This is also the perfect color for accents like lamp bases, artwork, and woven into rugs. We love the muted pink accents in our recent project, another color of 2025 was also used in this room.
When thinking of burgundy and maroon, these deeper shades make a bold statement, ideal for accent walls in dining rooms or home offices. Combine with gold or brass fixtures for a luxurious touch. Also these dramatic hues are perfect for statement seating ideally in a luxurious velvet.
Moss Green is a versatile choice for kitchens or bathrooms, moss green walls evoke a sense of nature and serenity. Pair with white tiles or stone countertops for a harmonious balance. For example, in the Colorado house, moss green was the right color for this bedroom.
Purple is having a comeback in the way of plum. This color is made for accent walls and decor. Plum vases would be perfect to display fresh greenery or dried flowers, adding texture and dimension to shelves and tables. Throw pillows, blankets, and other decor would be the perfect addition to any room. And it pairs well with muted pink as seen in the Colorado house.
Steely blue, the blue with gray undertones is the perfect swap for gray. This cool, muted tone is perfect for bedrooms or study spaces, providing a calming yet modern aesthetic. Combine with dark wood or metallic accents for a contemporary feel. Steely blue dining chairs provide a cool contrast to wooden tables, balancing warmth with sophistication.
The 2025 palette encourages layering and mixing shades for a multi-dimensional look. Pair warm neutrals like terracotta and brown with cool tones like steely blue for balance. Muted pink and moss green create a refreshing, natural contrast, while plum and burgundy add drama and depth when used together.
